Flames Freshman Makes Varsity Goalie! |

 Congratulations to Alex Guillen of the U15 Aurora Flames for being selected as Varsity Goalkeeper in his Freshman year at West Aurora High School! Although the West Aurora Blackhawks suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to West Chicago Wildcats in sudden-death overtime at Regionals, Alex played an incredible game as reported in the Beacon News:
“They wanted it a lot more than we did,” senior Mike Vazquez said. “We just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. It’s a shame because with a freshman goalkeeper, he came up big for us so many times. I just wish we could’ve helped him by scoring a few goals.”
Having just been elevated to the varsity, freshman Alex Guillen made an impressive debut in goal for the Blackhawks with 11 saves. But West Chicago had a 12-8 edge in shots on goal and a 20-12 advantage for overall attempts.

Flames Win 2010 Gold Cup! |

 Congratulations to both the U9 and U13 White Aurora Flames boys teams for winning their respective divisions in the 2010 National Soccer Rankings Gold Cup. The U9s had a nail-biting final against Ajax that had the Flames winning 2-0 at half-time but Ajax pulling it back in the second half to end in a 2-2 tie, leading to overtime. With no score at the end of the first overtime half and the second half coming to a close the U9 Flames managed to get the final goal of the match to close the deal with a 3-2 victory. The U13 White Flames team (pictured) had a little easier ride against Chicago Fire Jrs. The U13 Flames scored the first goal and looked comfortable throughout the game but couldn't get a second goal until just 10 minutes before the match ended when they found the net again and then 2 minutes later put the game out of reach with a third goal giving them a 3-0 victory. Great job by both teams!

Congratulations to all the Flames teams playing in NISL this Fall for their excellent performance at the seeding tournaments. The Flames boys' teams for this Fall are now ranked as shown (most age groups have around 120 teams, with many of them split between North/South):
